The sell out of Steve Forbes to Monsanto in his latest edition of Forbes Magazine has to be the low point of Steve's career. Anyone unfamiliar with dark side of Monsanto has only to search youtube and see how even Fox News caved in to their enormous political and economic pressure. It is obvious to more and more people how our government is run by such people as Monsanto. I think someone should interview Steve and see how he can justify the spin he attempted to give this evil company!

And Sir Rodney's comments about "local rule" are equally pathetic. What an embarassing moment for Mendham.

It's 8:17 p.m. Somerset Street has been without water for over 8 hours. There's been no information from the water company, who is repairing something in the street, not a sign of the police or town administrators to tell us what is going on. Families, babies, elderly, kids--all without water. Very disappointing all around.

It was great to read that Madison is acquiring the playing felds at Bailey Ellard but also clearly concerning that Madison clearly lacks the ability to maintain the fields that it has already. The weeds growing through the infiled dirt on the baseball fields at Bailey (in May no less) stand in stark contrast to what other towns include in their definition of field maintenance. I have lived here for a long time and am fairly confident that airation, fertiliization, and anything in addition to mowing the grass, (central avenue fields excluded because they simply are never mowed) are not part of the vocabulary of field maintenance. So now we have 8 more acres to maintain and to be embarrassed over when other towns visit for travel soccer games and the like. Add in the 53 acres and it is clear that turf will be needed because Madison lacks the ability to maintain grass fields properly. The best solution is to put field maintenance up for competitive bid and to allow the experienced landscapers to showcase their abilities. Union workers can still cut the grass but leave the real maintence to the professionals. Seems like a comprimise worth considering because this is clearly not getting better and going downhill fast.

Tea Party Response: Whatever happened to reporting news events without a liberal bias? The Hanover Eagle has drunk the Kool-Aid and completely off the mark of why Tea Parties are springing up through out the USA. I have seen very few accounts that really capture the spirit of the Tea Party. I have gradually watched our liberties and freedoms be taken away from us over the years. I have watched the government send our jobs offshore and turn us from a manufacturing and technology society to a service society. And now even these jobs are being sent overseas. Both the Democrats and Republicans are to blame for this mess. I have been told that the illegal aliens do jobs that nobody wants to do, while they flood our country, drain our resources, increasing crime, and threatening our national security. There are many Americans who would gladly take these jobs if given the opportunity, but are passed over for the illegal alien. Government seems to ruin everything that it touches. The government has ruined our healthcare and our education. Both are now expensive and not the quality it once was. National Healthcare will be even worse, we will become just like Canada and the UK. Now government is ruining our banks and our corporations. The government is devaluing our dollar and threatening our very existence of life with its reckless, out of control spending. We have a president who apologies for American wherever he travels. I am proud to be an American, please don’t apologize for me. My ancestors fought bravely for this country and our freedom and liberty. They didn’t fight to have Washington to spread the wealth and take our freedoms.

I would like to write a letter to the editor. Could not find how so I am writing it here. Last Wed, April 8, 2008 my granddaughter was playing in the back yard of the house where she and her siblings and my daughter used to live on Center Street. She is 9 years old. The owner approached her and told her that she must leave the backyard and she was not allowed to return. I think that was a very immature thing to do to a child. I would just like to comment that this should have been handled from one adult to another, not an adult to a child. I would really like this to print, as I would hope another child would not have to deal with such a thing. My granddaughter was very upset. Children should not have to be held accountable for their parents. This was one of the most rudist, immature, incomprehensible thing I have ever encountered. I would never expect an adult to talk to a 9 year old this way.

re russ chelak pro hunting letter. the lies told by hunters are enormous. they have the audacit to stand in front of the legislature and talk about how allegedly "safe" hunting is when in nj we had shots fired into a bedroom in a home in readington nj almost killed 4 people, we had shots fired into a home in mt olive, we had a hunter killing a man in readington, we had a hunter shooting a baby to death in its own home in ny state and we had a hunter firing into a day care center in maryland within the last year. Hunters repressent a danger to all of us. it is an activity that should be totally banned.

Are we teaching history in our schools? If so, why were some 10 grade classes denied viewing the historical event of President Obama's inauguration? In spite of the fact that the 10th graders almost begged the teachers to view the event, students were denied being a part of history in the making. Not only did this historical event show our children that they can do anything if they try, it was also a wonderful display of patriotism and the American people unified as one. Whether or not you voted for Obama, he is our President and Commander in Chief. I feel that our children should have had the opportunity to be a part of history. Don't you?
